Bright Ligths in a Big City

So today we’re talking about the bright lights A.K.A Neon!

No before you ask we are not going back to the 80s like the lady above, but instead we’re going to look at how people have used it more… recently…

But you know sometimes you don’t want to blind people with your full on florescent outfit, so as you can see from the picture above you can just add a pear of neon heels and you’ll be away! For example:

This could be a very safe and boring outfit from twilight star Kirsten Stewart but she manages to pull it off with those fun funky heels!

GOOD AND BAD NEON! (just in case you go OTT)

Mission Accomplished Neon…

Want to make a statement? Go for oversized Shades!

Not recommended Neon -just incase you blind someone- however if you are passionate about a look then definately go for it! My opinion is just one of many…

hmm… not everyone’s cup of tea…

continuing on the list we are going…

whoa!

But Overall…

Neon isn’t so bad, I mean it brightens up our days makes us feel more confident and where neon is the party is! Here are some more pictures both from the 80s and NOW!

Quick run away!

mood board with clothes and accessories in neon colours, michael kors neon pink sweater, shourouk neon earrings, current/elliot neon jeans, freida & nellie friendship bracelet, mac cosmetics neon orange lipstick, cambridge neon satchel, brian atwood neon pumps and essie neon nail polish

Band Stooshe put a smile on our faces!

Little Mix being… bright!

“I aim to make work that challenges the way things are, or are left to be.” -Margot Bowman

ART SPEAKS TO US IN A WAY YOU CANNOT SPEAK

THERE’S A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A FIRST IMPRESSION AND A BIG IMPRESSION

WE DON’T HIDE IN THE SHADOWS, WE ARE NOT AFRAID

I SHOW THINGS HOW I SEE IT NOT HOW PEOPLE WANT ME TO SEE IT

I’M THE HAPPIEST GIRL IN THE WORLD

WE DON’T WANT TO BE THE GIRL NEXT DOOR, WE WANT TO BE THE PEOPLE WE WANT TO BE

LIVE TO LAUGH, LAUGH TO LIVE

WE ARE THE PEOPLE

The quotes above are all important to us, and are personal in different ways. Like an image which is personal to us for, example to one person a picture could symbolise victory and leadership but to another it could represent sadness and loss. So I’d thought I’d show you some kinda a random photos/paintings/so on some the make me laugh and some that make me think. But how does this link to fashion you may ask? Well if you see someone walking down the street in a red robe people might say they look to big for their boots or like they’re going to a fancy dress party however some might say that they look proud, individual and beautiful…

Margot Bowman wrote the title quote, it’s something I think is important, breaking the boundries if it means being you

Next up it Kelly Avrili, fellow blogger Ophelia H –Who’s that Girl Blog (click link) was talking about how much of a cool dude she was so you know I thought I’d check her out!

Finally…

Doesn’t she make you wanna draw? Check out the rest of her cartoons on flickr if you type in peanutbutterpigeonpants’

So I was thinking of who to do next and decided to look at Kelly Avrili’s favourite photo’s and found someone on flickr called The Downtown Llama or Brie who described herself as “A boring teenager who enjoys drawing & music.”  and here’s a few of her drawings…

ok well, I hope that wasn’t too random but I love the photos so… why not?

I get the impresssion that us ‘fellow Brits’ love…

1. AUDREY HEPBURN

So apart from being so damn gorgeous Audrey is a complete style icon and a brilliant role model for young girls and women everywhere. Sadly she died age 63 from cancer, this was a great sadness fro many people and as me olde nan says, “everybody wanted  to be Audrey Hepburn”  She was an actress and starred in films such as My Fair Lady and Breakfast at Tiffanys.

2. RIHANNA

Jonathon Ross Show

So Rihanna (Rihi). You may wonder why? Well I was looking up style icons on the ‘interweb’ (as you do) and Rihi came up like a million times, I guess her style can  be outrageous but also very on trend I personally love her casual looks and her hair is awesome –that girl can pull off anything! BY the way Rihi is a singer/actress!

                                                                                                                                                              3.KATE MOSS

She’s done Vogue TOPSHOP, MANGO the list goes on with what this british babe has done. She also did a Heroin Chic look for Calvin Klein, and incase you haven’t guessed she is a model, Moss has been successful for a long time and in 2007 she came second on the forbes top-earning models list and was estimated to have earned $9 million in one year. She is also known for her controversial private life: high-profile relationships, party lifestyle and more.

                                                                                                                                                          4. VICTORIA BECKHAM

Viki is a businesswomen, fashion designer and singer -What more can you ask? She found fame as the posh spice of the Spice Girls on Top of the Pops; then after they split she became a solo singer and was signed to Virgin records. She then married Footballer David Beckham and had four children. She then designed a line of jeans for Rock & Republic, then later designed her own denim brand, dvb style. She has also produced a range of: Handbags, jewellery, sunglasses and fragrances.

                                                                                                                                                           5. CHERYL COLE

Chezza! So the nation’s sweetheart is back and better than ever, starting off in GIRLS ALOUD she then  joined x factor, became a solo singer, teamed up with l’Oreal, appeared as cover girl on Vogue, got may number ones, wrote a few songs, made friends with Will.i.am -Not a bad days work! Not everybody is a fan of her music however her fashion sense is the sense you want to have! Always looking gorgeous with the designer clothes to die for!

                                                                                                                                                                6. SUSIE BUBBLE

Susie Bubble is a blogger, writer and editor, working and living in London (her parents are from Hong Kong however she si British born). Susie/Susanna Lau has a blog called Style bubble = http://www.stylebubble.co.uk/   It consists of her widely read thoughts, personal experiences and observations on fashion with a focus on spotlighting young and unknown talent.  Susie now works full-time on her blog and other freelance projects, including writing for Elle, The Daily Rubbish and Dazed Digital.

                                                                                                                                                                 7.TAVI GEVINSON

Tavi is American and started her fashion blog in 2008 –Style Rookie = http://www.thestylerookie.com/. Although Gevinson described herself as a “tiny 13 year old dork that sits inside all day wearing awkward jackets and pretty hats”, many looked to her for style inspiration. In mid-2009, Gevinson partnered with the London-based Borders&Frontiers to design and sell her own t-shirt. In August 2009, she appeared on the cover of Pop magazine, which featured photographs by Jamie Morgan and was designed by artist Damien Hirst. Tavi has been featured in the View section of the December/January 2010 issue of Teen Vogue magazine and February 2010 issue of the French Vogue. Bloggers like Tavi have been referred to as the “frontline of fashion.”

WEll SEVEN IS A RANDOM NUMBER BUT IT’LL DO…

She’s got Attitude

Image

So breaking the rules and the boundaries (this blog is about fashion) *wink wink* so yeah this photo makes me laugh and it links to today’s post about Mademoiselle Coco Chanel and her contribute to the world of fashion! And we’re also going to have a look at parts of her life movie Coco before Chanel.

PHOTO A = The LBD!

PHOTO A is one of my favourite scenes from the whole movie; Coco has been taken to a ball but doesn’t have the right dress and well, just doesn’t want to wear the norm. So instead she brings with her the start of the LBD (Little Black Dress). She doesn’t wear the “appropriate” flowing white dresses that are all girly and floral, but wears a sophisticated, elegant black dress!
